FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How do I know if the treatment will be beneficial?
While there are no guarantees in psychotherapy or psychiatry, our clinicians have seen many individuals achieve meaningful, lasting improvements. If your needs align with the services we provide, we will use the best available evidence-based treatments to help you as much as possible. Regular psychotherapy sessions typically last 50 minutes, while initial assessments with a psychiatrist or psychologist may take up to 90 minutes.
2. How long will my treatment last?
The length of treatment varies based on your individual needs, goals, and progress. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others require ongoing care. Your clinician will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan, and together you will review your progress regularly to determine the best duration.
3. How can therapy help me?
Therapy provides a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Your clinician/provider helps you identify patterns in your behavior, develop healthier coping skills, and build resilience. Therapy can reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma, improve relationships and decision-making, and empower you to create lasting positive changes in your life.
4. What about medication vs. psychotherapy?
Medication and psychotherapy are effective in different ways, and many people benefit from a combination of both.
- Medication helps reduce or stabilize symptoms by addressing biological factors such as brain chemistry. It is often helpful for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other conditions where symptoms interfere with daily life.
- Psychotherapy helps you understand thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while providing tools to cope, heal, and create long-term change.
In general, Medication helps manage symptoms; therapy helps create lasting change. Your clinician will recommend the best approach based on your needs, symptom severity, and personal preferences.
